Vice Chair Introduction : Taanvi Malhotra

 Hi everyone!

My name is Taanvi and I will be one of your vice chairs for BMUN this year. 

A little about me,  I'm a senior studying Economics and Public Policy at Cal.  Before moving to the bay area, I used to live in Dubai, UAE and prior to that I used to live in New Delhi, India. This is also my 3rd year with BMUN and my 7th year of MUN. I find our committee topic super interesting and I'm keen to see what you guys come up with !

I'm really looking forward to (virtually) meeting everyone, and feel free to hit me up about all things MUN, Berkeley or literally anything else ( or send me pictures of your dogs lol) .

Requirements 

Attached are the specialized position paper guidelines for this committee. For the general position paper guidelines, check out the BMUN learn website. Your position paper should be uploaded to http://huxley.bmun.org/ and titled Submission_Committee_Position. 

Office Hours

Once you submit your position paper, you will be redirected to a pop-up window with the option to reserve a 10 min office hour slot. Everyone is welcome and encouraged to attend! We can chat about anything from BMUN to favorite desserts.🍦

Vice Chair Intro- Jalen Ian Gelb

Hello, my name is Jalen Gelb. I am a Sophomore at UC Berkeley studying Political Science and Interdisciplinary Studies with a minor in Political Economy. I was born and raised in West Los Angeles right next to UCLA and I have been doing Model United Nations for the past six years (and I actually attended BMUN in my sophomore year of high school). Aside from BMUN, at Cal I am involved with a club that helps put on free concerts for Berkeley students. Besides all of that, I enjoy listening to music, watching TV and movies, socializing, and eating. Favorite song: Paranoid by Kanye West or When We Get By by D’Angelo; favorite TV show: Curb Your Enthusiasm or Its Always Sunny in Philadelphia; favorite movie: Chef or Blood Simple; favorite place to socialize: Socials; favorite food: Ethiopian.

I am so excited for BMUN this year, and even more excited to see the ideas and solutions surrounding our committee’s topics. My family is South African, so I have heard about a lot of the issues and events we will be discussing throughout the conference.

Vice Chair Intro: Su-Ann

 Hi everyone!

My name is Su-Ann Ho and I have the honour of serving as one of your vice chairs for the AIDS Crisis Committee. I am a freshman pursuing a degree in Bioengineering (and maybe EECS) at Berkeley, and am currently located in Vancouver, Canada. This will be my 6th year of Model UN. 

My areas of interest include robotics, medical devices, and history. Outside of MUN, you can find me attempting to build a car with the Cal Super Mileage Vehicle team, reading existential-crises inducing books, attempting just one more run in Hades, or chasing after my dog, Navi.

Head Chair Intro ~ Riya!

Hi all! 

My name is Riya Master, and I will be your head chair for AIDS Crisis at BMUN LXIX. I am a junior at Cal studying Integrative Biology and grew up a few minutes outside Washington, DC.

I love international relations and am very excited to share my interests with you guys this year. In the near future, I plan to attend medical school! My approach to healthcare focuses on the intersection of international relations ~ history ~ medicine, hence the topic choice for our committee.  

Outside of BMUN, I am a research fellow at Harvard Medical School, directing a documentary on COVID-19, and External Affairs Chief of Staff for the Associated Students of the University of California. If you are interested in public health or policy research, please let me know!

Vice Chair Intro: Anish V

Hey everyone!
My name is Anish Vankayalapati and I will be one of your vice chairs for the AIDS CRISIS committee! I am a senior at UC Berkeley majoring in Computer Science and this will be my 9th year of MUN.

I am from Hyderabad, India, although I did live in Los Altos, California for my first half a decade. In my free time, I enjoy playing and watching soccer, reading Stephen King novels and trying to find good Indian restaurants in Berkeley (none so far unfortunately).
